Where I waffle about books, kpop, kdrama's and anything else.
Finished 01/08/2026
I turned the last page of this book as I sat outside on a nice sunny day on the first of August. I was sitting on my garden chair, trousers rolled up with my colourful summer hat. I turned the pages until the very end.
I will stop there, spoiler free section. What is the book about?
Its a cute fae book, human girl goes into Fae world for spoiler free reasons and she has to do tasks and they are a lot of Fae rules and there is potential love interests. Rating: 4/5. Cute, well written, easy read but ending felt rushed. I will say I couldnt predict anything, it didnt follow the typical fae formula thats around now. It was just a good time.
*Spoiler section*
I picked this up at the library, I had no idea what I was getting into, maybe it was the cover. It is beautiful. Now that I have finished it, I can enjoy the Nettle cloak. I had to look it up, it seems its a stand alone so the Nettle story will not be continued. But the author will continue to write stories with different characters in the fae world. Will I go out of my way to read the other books? Probably not, unless I see it in the library.
I think the premise of going to the Fae world, completing the tasks and the king tricking her was interesting. Then there was Conor the human and Ellion the main male interest. Who is a changeling and I could tell he was the main love interest. I think before the reveal, I was like she is a changeling. I think the shadows when she was getting the loom gave it away for me.
I feel like it was a good pace until the ending because she went to the queen, the king and queen made up. She saved Conor. Met her mother. Left her after 2 sentences. Found out who she was. Kissed Conor, first kiss, last kiss. Then he went back to the human world to look after her grandma. Kissed Ellion out of nowhere, dancing or something. The end.
I was thinking maybe this is a series but for this story its not. So, I just dont get the rushed ending. These scenes could have been more fleshed out. We could have more of a conclusion.
But I still enjoyed this book. It was an easy read. It was cute and it was part of my summer 2026 even though its not a summer book.
I liked the fae and magical elements of it and the nature and all its magic.
